School holidays can be exciting… sometimes perhaps more so for the kids than the parents. Finding an activity which keeps the kids occupied and having fun for a full week can be tricky.

However, it is often true that the simplest of activities are the most enjoyable, which is especially beneficial if you are on a budget. Here, we’ve put together three fun and thrifty ways to keep your children happy this half term!

  • Baking - Baking is a great rainy-day activity for kids. Not only will it help them to understand how certain foods are made, but it can take up hours of their time. So, dust off your old recipe book and get creative!

  • The great outdoors – One of the best activities to do as a family is to get some fresh air in the great outdoors. Whether you choose to go for a walk, cycle or go for a picnic, there are many country parks in and around Wakefield, including the popular Newmillerdam, so there’s no excuse!

  • Dine out for lunch – Everyone loves a cheese sandwich for lunch, however they can soon get a tad boring. Taking the kids out to a different environment for a few hours to enjoy some delicious food will leave them and their tummy’s feeling very happy. At Hotel St Pierre, children under 12 can enjoy 3 courses of scrumptious food for less than £10!
