Planning your dream wedding can be an extremely exciting time. From the food to the entertainment to the dress there are many different elements to consider. To help make sure the organising stays fun and avoids being stressful, we recommend you bear the following in mind when choosing your wedding venue:

1. Make sure it fits with the plan you have in mind

This might sound obvious, but it is really important to check that the venue ticks all your must-have boxes for the big day. For example, if you have always dreamed of getting married outdoors, make sure there is a garden. If you want to get married at the same venue as your reception make sure they have a marriage license.

2. Find out what the capacity of the venue is

Equally vital is finding out how many guests the venue can accommodate - both for sit down meals as well as in the evening. Check if there is a strict maximum number or whether capacity is negotiable and compare this to your potential guest list.

3. Ensure there is accommodation available for guests

As well as making sure there is enough room for guests, make sure there are enough rooms! If your chosen venue is not big enough for everyone then have a look at what other options nearby there are.

4. If you are having a package, find out what it includes

Each venue will vary in terms of what they include. Check what drinks, food, entertainment and decorations are included to help you decide whether it is within your budget or not.

5. Be clear on any extra costs

Finally, make sure you’re clear on any extra costs. This could be for things like room hire if it’s not included in the package. It’s best to know everything in advance so there are no surprises later on.
